Overview

MATLAB is a programming and numeric computing platform developed by MathWorks and used by engineers and scientists to analyze data, develop algorithms, and create models.

How to Use

If you’ve already installed MATLAB, you can add it to a new Canvas Assignment. Select Submission Type, choose “External Tool,” select Find, and choose “MATLAB Grader LTI 1.3”. Click “Select” and then Save your Assignment.

If you haven’t installed or activated MATLAB, follow these steps.

Download the Installer

  1. Go to Duke's MATLAB Portal. Select "Sign in to get started" under the Get MATLAB and Simulink section.
  2. Log into your Duke MathWorks account. (Note – you may be asked to log in through a Duke login page first)
  3. Click the download button for the current release. (Users can also download previous releases here).
  4. Choose a supported platform and download the installer. 

Installing and Activating MATLAB from the Downloaded Installer

Official activation and installation instructions can be found at Mathworks support.

Install and Activate

  1. Run the installer.
  2. In the installer, select Log in with a MathWorks Account and follow the online instructions.
  3. When prompted to do so, select the Academic – Total Headcount license labeled Individual.
  4. Select the products you want to download and install.
  5. After downloading and installing your products, keep the Activate MATLAB checkbox selected and click Next.
  6. Follow the prompts to activate MATLAB.

Privacy & Security

Duke has signed a Security and Privacy Agreement with MATLAB developer Mathworks.
