Overview
Respondus includes two tools for Canvas exams:
LockDown Browser restricts access to other websites, applications, printing, copying, and common browser functions during an assessment.
Respondus Monitor works with LockDown Browser and adds webcam, microphone, and exam-session recording for remote review.
Respondus is intended for specific assessment needs. Instructors should consider course goals, accessibility, privacy, student experience, and alternatives before requiring it.
How to Use
First, request Pilot Access. The Lockdown Browser tool will be added to your course in the Course Navigation.
Build your quiz or exam in Canvas first, then open the tool in your course and choose LockDown Browser to get started.
Instructors should notify students in advance and provide a low-stakes practice quiz so students can install and test the software before an exam.
Support
Use Respondus Support for any installation, setup, and technical issues throughout the pilot.
